Firstly, I just want to say that I’m not a makeup artist or expert in anyway… I’ve always had an interest in cosmetics but that’s as far as it goes. I’ve had people on Instagram ask me about which foundation I use so here it is…
Previously a MAC girl
I was always a MAC makeup girl, from primer and foundations to my powders and lipsticks. But I started to find the foundations a little cakey and dry. My MAC shades are NC42 for foundation and NW25 for concealer, just incase you wanted to use it as a reference for what I’m using now.
Having followed Huda Beauty for years I was so excited when she launched her own foundation! So during my first trip back to Dubai, post her foundation launch (before we moved here) I headed straight to Sephora!!!
Huda Beauty #fauxfilter Foundation
I have it in two shades… So depending on my tan and complexion I use either one or both together. Being Indian my skin tone is medium-dark but with a yellow undertone. Not orange or chalky. Huda’s collection covers these skin tones perfectly.
I’ve tried to select pictures that show the foundation in different lighting with different lipsticks, lashes, no lashes etc so you can see the difference.

I have the foundation in shades Brown Sugar and Macchiato. (Macchiato is my daily go to and Brown Sugar or a mix of both for when I’m more tanned)

Pros
- A little goes a long way – half a pump is usually enough to give good coverage.
- Waterproof
- Lightweight and breathable
- Smooth flawless finish… just like having a filter on!
- Amazing coverage
- Good range of shades and tones
- Neutral smell
- Blends better with a stipple brush rather than a beauty blender.
- Complimenting primers available from Huda Beauty.
- Quick and easy to apply. My day to day make up takes 5 minutes… Literally!
- Vegan
- Cruelty free
Cons
- Quick drying so blend it quickly!
- Quite pricey, especially if buying a few shades. (But remember a little goes a long way so it lasts a while!)
- Exclusive stores only. Some Sephora’s, online and if you’re in London, UK, then try Harrods or Selfridges.
- Some shades are very popular and sell out fast!

Battle of the Foundations
There are so many makeup brands on the market these days from budget to high end that all have mixed reviews. Which foundation do you use and why? I’ve heard that Fenty Beauty is amazing?… and also that the Primark UK, foundation is a dupe of Estee Lauder Double Wear?!! Have you tried it? Let me know!
