Incorrect Gender Reveal… She’s a He!

Where to start??!… We’re expecting baby no.2 and it’s all very exciting. Before finding out the gender (the first time round) I was convinced it was another boy but saw the benefits of having a boy or girl. As long as the baby is ok and healthy then I really didn’t mind!

Yay… it’s a girl

Our first gender reveal was at 16 weeks. Yes, it was early but we were told it was 95% accurate. We wanted to find out that week as my parents were over from the UK and wanted them involved. The full video is on my planning baby no.2 blog along with the vitamin supplements I took!

So our consultant jotted down the baby’s gender on a piece of paper, popped it into an envelope and off we went to get a reveal balloon done!

Yay, it’s a girl! Weeks of preparing Mason for a baby sister, people congratulating us on having one of each and me swooning over baby girl clothes.

Yay… it’s a boy

Weeks fly by… our 18.5 weeks scan comes around. Here in Dubai scans are every 3-4 weeks.

Anyway everything is fine… Our consultant checks the vitals, heartbeat, limbs etc… and oh wait… there’s a PENIS!! WTF!!!!! Our baby girl has a penis! She’s a he! Not the news I was expecting from just going for a routine scan I’ll be honest!

Mixed emotions

I was convinced initially that we were having another boy and loved the idea. Then finding out that we were having a girl was a total shock but I finally got used to it. From being really excited about welcoming a little princess into our family… To then being told it’s a boy! I cried, laughed and nearly jumped out of the bed at the scan! The baby is healthy and that’s all that really matters and I know that Mason will love having a brother to play with but for selfish reasons a girl would’ve been nice. Spa days, shopping trips etc. I’ll just have to drag the boys along instead.

I genuinely thought this type of stuff only happened in movies but here I am… Carrying what I thought was a baby boy to being told it was a baby girl to then being shown a very clear penis during a scan! 😂🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

In a way I guess it’s a blessing in disguise… no periods, no going out and dating guys etc! I put my parents through hell and I know that karma would’ve been a b*tch!! 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

Moral of the story; Trust your instincts… and I’m always right 😉😉😉

We’re also getting a second opinion before I start shopping!!!

Baby names

Also we’d decided on the name, Cienna (CiCi) for short. So now we’re back to square one with baby boy names! Any suggestions are welcome. Middle name will be James and surname Carey. I’m really uninspired so any ideas you have would be great! Thank you 😘

UPDATE

Sooo since posting this it turns out that I’m not the only one this has happened to!! I’ve had lots of messages from mums with similar stories. Turns out it’s quite a common mistake some people even go to birth thinking they’re having a girl and give birth to a boy and visa versa. I’m just thankful that we found out before I started shopping… We’re getting the gender confirmed again in the next few weeks so I’ll update then buttt from the last scan we’re sure it’s a boy!!!
